This means a two-week Fall Break, two-week Christmas Break, two-week Spring Break, and a six-week Summer Vacation. ROTC1, 2, 3, and 4 are taught in the 1st Semester, while ROTC5, 6, 7 and 8 are taught 2nd Semester. The later is only counted as non-JROTC electives, but the most motivated cadets usually return for the 2nd semester. Team sponsorship and oversight are shared between SNSI and NSI. NJROTC certified SNSI applicants should be highly motivated Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard commissioned officers in grades W-2 through O-6. The position is a 12-month contract.The SNSI will serve as an integral member of a two-instructor team. The NSI is a highly knowledgeable and professional retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, with 13 years of experience at Marysville Pilchuck High School. The unit was established in 1995, enrollment averages 140+ cadets, a CNET Distinguished Unit with honors, and is a district program pulling cadets from 3 different high schools. The unit has active Armed and Unarmed Drill, Color Guards, Academic, Physical Fitness, Air Rifle, Orienteering, Cyber Patriots teams, and Drones. Applicants must be willing to work before and after school and some weekends traveling with Cadets and supporting school and community events. Port Angeles High School is seeking a highly qualified, certified Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard retiree (E6–O6) for the position of Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) in its National Naval Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) program. This is an 11-month contracted teaching position, funded through Career and Technical Education (CTE), with compensation at Navy minimum pay and an additional coaching stipend. The NSI is a highly knowledgeable and professional retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, with 16 years of experience at Parkersburg High School. The applicant must be available to work after hours and some weekends to support extracurricular activities and cadet travel to school activities, competitions, and community service events. Parkersburg is a small, very affordable city of about 30,000 people, located on the West Virginia/Ohio border two hours from Columbus, Ohio. The area boasts the convenience of urban life, with numerous outdoor activities within easy reach. Parkersburg High School has a population of approximately 1600 students, and averages between 110 and 120 cadets each year. The program enjoys the strong support of the school district and the local community. Instructor contracts are renewed on a yearly basis for a 10-month period, and they also receive a coaching stipend.
