Located on 1,000-acre campus 38 miles west of Chicago, the Child City is a home for children and teens, from infancy through high school. Dedicated in July 1913 by the Moose fraternal organization, MOOSEHEART cares for youth whose families are unable, for a wide variety of reasons, to provide optimal opportunities for their success. Some have lost one or both parents; others are living in environments that are simply not conducive to healthy growth and development. Mooseheart provides children with a wholesome home-like environment and the best possible training and education. – Mooseheart.org. Our program is a mandatory program for our 65 students in grades 8th-12th grade and has a long history dating back over 100 years. In 2013, we made improvements to our building that included a new dedicated air rifle range along with a new contest gym that we use for drill and PT days. Our funding primarily comes from members of the Moose and through Moose Charities, our non-for-profit arm of the fraternity, so no fundraising is required from our teachers. Our average grade level has less than 15 students. We recently have had strong showings at Proviso East/West, East Aurora, and the Rich Township HS competitions. Coaching is available with excellent facilities. If interested, please fill out an application at https://secure.mooseintl.org/mooseheartgeneralempapp/default.aspx .

We are a selective enrollment high school and the students self-select to be part of this program. We are also part of the Chicago Public Schools JROTC program, so we compete in city-wide competitions as well as the Navy area three. This past year we had 6 students apply to the U.S. Naval Academy. We participate in the Chicago Memorial Day Parade (the largest in the country). And our all-service color guard leads the parade.
